A Million Dollar Picture
Forwarded by Harinder Singh
Monday, 22 August 2011 1:43 AM
A wealthy man sat in his attorney's office.
"Do you want the bad news first or the terrible news," the lawyer asked.
"Give me the bad news first," said the wealthy man.
"Your wife found a picture worth half-million dollars," the lawyer answered.
"That's the bad news?" the wealthy man asked incredulously and added "I can't wait to hear the terrible news!"
"The picture is of you and your mistress." said the lawyer.

Hot Chocolate
Forwarded by shruti
Wednesday, 19 August 2009 11:25 PM
A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were talking at a reunion and decided to go visit their old university professor, now retired.
During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work and lives.
Offering his guests hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups - porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the hot chocolate.
When they all had a cup of hot chocolate in hand, the professor said: "Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones.
While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.
The cup that you're drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the hot chocolate.
In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink.
What all of you really wanted was hot chocolate, not the cup; but you consciously went for the best cups.
And then you began eyeing each other's cups.
Now consider this: Life is the hot chocolate; your job, money and position in society are the cups.
They are just tools to hold and contain life.
The cup you have does not define, nor change the quality of life you have.
Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the hot chocolate God has provided us.
God makes the hot chocolate, man chooses the cups.
The happiest people don't have the best of everything.
They just make the best of everything that they have.
Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.
And enjoy your hot chocolate.

Cell phone etiquette
Forwarded by Kiran
Friday, 18 January 2013 3:19 AM
After a tiring day, a commuter settled down in her seat and closed her eyes.
As the train rolled out of the station, the guy sitting next to her pulled out his cell phone and started talking in a loud voice.
"Hi sweetheart. It's Eric. I'm on the train."
"Yes, I know it's six thirty and not four thirty, but I had a long meeting."
"No, honey, not with that blonde from the accounts office. It was with the boss."
"No sweetheart, you're the only one in my life."
"Yes, I'm sure, cross my heart."
Fifteen minutes later, he was still talking loudly.
When the young woman sitting next to him had enough, she leaned over and said into the phone,
"Eric, hang up the phone and come back to bed."
Eric stopped using his cell phone in public since then.

Poor Little Bird
Forwarded by Payam
Monday, 5 October 2009 11:54 PM
A little bird was flying south for the winter.
It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground onto a large field.
While the bird was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him.
As the frozen bird was there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was.
The dung was actually thawing him out!
He stayed there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.
A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate.
Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.
Moral of the story:
Firstly, not everyone who shits on you is your enemy
Secondly, not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend
And finally, when you're in deep shit, it is best to keep your mouth shut!

The Effective Sign
Forwarded by Diacuy
Saturday, 14 November 2009 12:58 PM
A blind boy was sitting on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet.
Beside him was a sign which says, "I am blind, please help."
There were only few coins in the hat.
A man was walking by.
He took some coins from his pocket and dropped them into the blind boy's hat.
He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words.
He put the sign back with the new words on it.
Soon the hat began to fill up.
More and more people were now giving money to the blind boy.
That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were.
The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?"
The man replied, "I only wrote the truth. I said what was already written but in a different way."
I wrote, "Today is a beautiful day but I cannot see it."
Both signs were telling that the boy was blind.
The first sign was simply saying he was blind.
While the second one was informing people that they were lucky that they have eyes and that they can see what is around them.
Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?
Moral of the Story - Be thankful for what you have.
When life gives you 100 reasons to cry, show that you have 1,000 reasons to smile.
It is nice to see a person smiling; and even nicer if you are the reason of making him smile!

What a Wonderful Way to Explain Death
A sick man turned to his doctor, as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said,
"Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side."
Very quietly, the doctor said, "I don't know."
"You don't know? You, a Christian man, do not know what is on the other side?"
The doctor was holding the handle of the door; on the other side came a sound of scratching and whining, and as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.
Turning to the patient, the doctor said, "Did you notice my dog?
He's never been in this room before.
He didn't know what was inside.
He knew nothing except that his master was here, and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear.
I know little of what is on the other side of death, but I do know one thing.
I know my Master is there and that is enough."

Colgate's Smart Advertising

Colgate has created a very ingenious advertising campaign to promote their dental floss, but before I explain to you the details of these images, I will let you appreciate them quietly.
Alright, now that you had time to quietly observe the images, in the first one you will notice that she has one finger too many in her hand, in the second one a phantom arm is floating there, and in the third one the man has only one ear.
The campaign attained its purpose because it proved that food remains on your teeth draw more attention than any physical defect.

Good News or Bad?
Forwarded by Garry James
Friday, 6 November 2009 5:53 AM
The great Argentine golfer Robert De Vincenzo once won a tournament.
After receiving his check and smiling for the cameras, he went to the clubhouse and prepared to leave.
Some time later, he walked alone to his car in the parking lot and was approached by a young woman.
She congratulated him on his victory and then told him that her child was seriously ill and near death.
She did not know how she could pay the doctor's bills and hospital expenses.
De Vincenzo was touched by her story, and he took out a pen and endorsed his winning check for payment to the woman.
"Make some good days for the baby," he said as he pressed the check into her hand.
The next week, he was having lunch in a country club when a Professional Golf Association official came to his table.
"Some of the boys in the parking lot last week told me you met a young woman there after you won that tournament."
De Vincenzo nodded.
"Well," said the official, "I have news for you. She's a phony. She has no sick baby. She's not even married. She fleeced you, my friend."
"You mean there was no dying baby?," asked De Vincenzo.
"That's right," said the official.
"That's the best news I've heard all week." De Vincenzo said.
Good news or bad?
It all really depends on how you see things.
You can be bitter after cheated or you can choose to move on with your life.

Have we reached that day when we were ...
... having coffee,
... appreciating arts in a museum,
... getting together in a restaurant,
... chatting in a cafe,
... relaxing at the beach,
... supporting our favourite team,
... having fun with our boyfriend/girlfriend,
... enjoying the town in a convertible?
Einstein was right --- "I fear the day when the technology overlaps with our humanity. The world will only have a generation of idiots."
